Racing Stripes (2005) IMDB rating: 5.30 Plot: In the middle of a raging thunderstorm, a traveling circus accidentally leaves behind some very precious cargo—a baby zebra. The gangly little foal is rescued by horse farmer Nolan Walsh, who takes him home to his young daughter Channing. Why is my RES puffy/swollen around the neck?
I recently rescued a sick turtle. If you will please help me, if you will and can, she will appreciate it
picked up 5 inch girl from a family. there were 2 but the other one just died. the father wanted to give her away so the children would not have to deal with death again if she died. I poured out all the rocks and mold as soon as I got around the corner.
I could not believe that she was in such conditions I wanted to turn him into the Turtle Police!
when I got home I washed the tank well and put clean water and a few stones about her size in the water and we bought a turtle basking lamp 75 watts. I bought a small gold fish and put it in with her. And I named her Tuula.
The fish was gone when I woke up this morning.
So I have had her 2 days. today I noticed how puffy she is around her neck area. and pale. so when it got warm enough I put her outside for a few hours in the sunshine. then I put her in a tub so she could swim and she can not swim to the top of the water. her limbs are very small, clear pieces of her shell came off and pieces of the white mold came off of her. she is having stools and there are rocks in them.
she is inside warm and alert. what is scaring me is when she puts her head under the water she , like, passes out. her head falls a bit and eyes close. is she too tired out? did I over do it. will her getting overtired make her more sick?
any advice you have will be helpful! Thank You

she probably needs more food to start. in her stoll there are rocks… she probably ate rocks that are in teh tank and that is making her sick. there is really nothing you can do at home for her. she needs to go to the vet. i recently got a red eared slider as well and whe i know is what i have read online. please please take her to the vet before she gets worse! let me know how it goes:) as for being in the water, my turtle does that as well. he is relaxing, as long as her nose is above the water its okay because she is breathing. make sure the water is warm like above 75 degrees farenheit and the basking area needs to be warmer than that. good luck!

I’m not an expert in Sliders but I’ve raised and bred three species of turtle/tort for 15 years. From the sound of it, she is in bad shape and needs to see a reptile vet. I wonder if she’s got a rock stuck in her throat causing it to look swollen. Rocks can cause serious blockage that can lead to death. I applaud you for taking her in and suggest you get her to a vet as soon as possible.

most martial arts spar or roll.. most have weapons of their own, though limited training in them.. you should look into kickboxing or kendo.. kendo is mosly sword fighting and kickboxing will not emphasize sparring.

Try Hapkido.

There is no sparring, and is all about self defence, and even has some weapons training at higher belts. It has a little bit of everything too, strikes, kicks, throws, joint locks etc.

Tai Chi Chuan is a defensive Chinese martial art which does not require sparring in order to learn. There are forms (Tai Chi Jian) that use the long sword and the broad sword.

I would say Aikido is for you, it generally does not do any sparring at all providing you stay away from Shodokan Aikido. So yea in aikido you’ll study self defence techniques using circular motion and your opponents momentum against them. Its a nice style involving, locks and some throws, I always enjoyed it . You’ll generally also study use of the bokken and jo, learning different kata’s for them, as well as unarmed defence against weapons.

Edit: @moris, Hapkido does do sparring, at least the styles I’v witnessed

Edit 2: I’m not saying aikido is better than all other martial arts, I try to stay away from that kind of argument, cause there isnt really a right answer, it just doesnt involving sparring which is a requirment for the asker

If you do not like to spar how will you handle a real fight? While it is possible to be able to defend yourself in a fight without training in sparring, it is very unlikely and makes no difference if you are afraid of confrontation in the first place. My recommendation is that you find a martial arts studio/school, ask to watch a class to see if you like the style, and then just train the way your teacher wants you to train. If he teaches sparring just do it. Martial arts are about confidence, discipline, humility, and personal growth, not about doing what you want to do. You should trust in your teacher to give you the skills you need to defend yourself and not refuse any of his/her lessons.

well kung fu is right because it teaches you to use both your arms and legs instead of focusing on one and not the other along with weapon trainging like the 3 sectional staff, spear, double broadsword etc. Also 99 percent of martial arts involve sparring, because if you learn the moves but yet you never test it out, how will you know how to defend yourself. sparring helps you correct the moves you learn so that when you get into a real life situation you won’t have any mess up, thus saving you from getting killed or humiliated in front of a group of students.

You should try it. Chinese martial arts are awesome, but sorry to disappoint you, you WILL spar. When I started, the last thing on my mind was sparring (I am a girl afterall and have never punched another human being), but you know what, sparring is great and I now look forward to that every week. It is so much fun and relieves a lot of stress. You don’t have to be violent or aggressive to spar. You are just learning to defend yourself.

WQ) I pretty much agree and let me explain why, you see I was always against Vince Mcmahon ECW we both know it wasn’t the old school ECW which gain respect from a loyal following of fans to tell you the truth Vince only bought back name for merchandise sales like Raise and Fall of ECW. and then the great PPV buys both of the One night stand PPV’s were getting. did you know Terry Funk cry his eyes out! and told his wife he couldn’t accept a big fancy pay check from the man who put his company out of business. feeling if he did he then he would be turning his back against everything ECW stood for he knew Vince was going to treat the new ECW like trash and guess what it happen

All because ECW wasn’t getting the ratings he wanted. When somebody talks about ECW Legacy we will remember the old days of Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, Raven, even Dudley Boyz with little Spike Dudley when they use to be great heels and Balls Mahoney. so much more they all made ECW into a special little company and their PPV’s had so much violence in them with ECW Rules

i've been having difficulty in swallowing for the past 48 hrs, seems like something's blocking there.?
i can even feel it when i swallow. no changes in voice but i always feel like vomiting, yet nothing comes out. when i press the area below my jaw, it aches. i am currently taking macrodantin(nitrofurantoin macrocrystals) for my urinary tract infection, and i don’t know if i’m just experiencing side effects or this is another case. i had a fever when my sore throat started, but i was relieved of feverf the following day.

1. was your throat like this before starting the medicine for the UTI? If not, it may be possible that you are having an allergic reaction and take some benadryl and see your dr immediately.

2. Have you had your tonsils removed? If not, then it could be strep or tonsilitis causing the gagging feeling and obstruction when swallowing. Let us know how it goes!

Last week I was in Toronto, Ontario attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen.

Moving through the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camos. As they began heading to their gate, everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering.

When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and cheered for, it hit me. I’m not alone. I’m not the only Canadian who still loves this country and supports our troops and their families.

I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go to church, school, work and home without fear or reprisal.

Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our service men and women, a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old, ran up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said ‘hi.’

The little girl then asked him if he would give something
to her daddy for her.

The young soldier, who didn’t look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her Daddy. Then suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.

The mother of the little girl, who said her daughter’s name was Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Soldier and had been in Afghanistan for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter Courtney missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up.

When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military-looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it..

After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, ‘I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you.’ He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying ‘your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home very soon.’

The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet, he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event.

As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, there were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of selflessness, turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek.

We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it’s good to be a Canadian

yes its a very touching story. i am not canadian but it doesnt matter what country you are from. the most important thing is that we all are humans and we all feel the same pain and love for our motherland and for all those servicemen who give their lives so that our borders are safe and our kids go safely to school and have a good and safe childhood.
